What you’ll be able to do:
Today, Ford Smart Mobility is looking for Product Designers that embrace lean, agile and design thinking practices. We expect Product Designers to be involved in the end to end software development process, from user research, to prototyping, to design handoff, to delivering value to customers.  Product Designers will work on small, cross-functional, and co-located teams. The Product Designer will collaborate directly and continuously with software engineers and product managers, responsible for ensuring the team releases early and often.  You will:
  • Work closely with Business Partners to understand their product vision, and work to establish a design solution to support the vision
  • Maintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practice
  • Work as a collaborative team member with product managers, product owners, developers, and fellow designers.  Lead products from discovery and framing through iterative development and delivery
  • Help product managers assess and prioritize opportunities and constraints
  • Guide product decisions through user research and iterative feedback loops
  • Rapidly iterate design prototypes and working applications
  • Conduct user testing, interviews, and analysis
  • Develop visual identity systems, visual design, and define interaction patterns
  • Produce materials for business partners and developers, including user flows, wireframes, mockups, live style guides, and assets.  Show command of modern front-end technologies and frameworks (e.g. HTML/CSS, grid systems, responsive design)
  • Present design assets, facilitate workshops and evangelize design thinking to leadership and teammates in one on one situations, small groups and to large audiences 
The minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 3+ years of experience in User-Centered Design.
  • 3+ years of experience with wire-framing and user testing
Our preferred requirements:
  • Previous success working with an Agile development team
  • Background in software development
  • Experience using Sketch and other prototyping tools
  • Proven experience coaching and guiding others in UX and design
  • Experience working in paired programming environment using agile/lean methodologies
  • Comfortable working autonomously on a product team and making design decisions
  • Experience designing full-service consumer and business applications
  • Experience with Mobile Accessibility
  • Experience designing responsive software solutions
  • Experience working with Design Systems
