What you will be able to do
Join our Emerging Technology & Innovation Department, an eclectic and dynamic group of IT professionals who conduct research into leading edge technologies that drive our business forward. The group is involved in technology vendor engagement, experimentation, proof of concept and business use case creation, publication and communication of research results, and facilitation of technology implementation. You will research and apply new AI/cognitive computing technologies and products that enable human cognitive skills, such as language, perception, and reasoning. These technologies may include natural language processing (NLP) and natural language understanding (NLU), vision, and reasoning. You will:
  • Develop point-of-view for technologies and their potential applications at Ford
  • Work with business partners/owners to create use cases, share learnings and communicate our vision and processes to business leads and IT management
  • Collaborate with business partners, technology vendors and IT in bringing relevant technologies into Ford
  • Plan and execute proof-of-concepts to evaluate technology applicability
  • Demonstrate business value and improve user experience
  • Grow our AI Research Lab environment while increasing its visibility within Ford
  • Author and publish papers, both internally and externally
  • Serve as subject matter expert for architecture development and production deployment of AI and cognitive computing technologies  
The minimum requirements we seek: 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One or more years of development experience in AI and cognitive computing-related projects 
 Our preferred requirements:
  • Master degree in computational linguistics, computer science, engineering or related field
  • Educational emphasis on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning
  • Passion for cognitive computing technologies in the areas of language, learning and reasoning
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies
  • Experience with AI toolsets, including development languages (e.g., Python, Java and C++, etc.), machine learning library (e.g., TensorFlow, Pytorch, spaCy, CoreNLP, etc.), and cloud-based AI development tools/services (e.g., Azure Cognitive Services)
  • Experience with APIs and micro services
  • Ability to create test environments and develop/execute test plans
  • Exceptional technical and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work well independently and thrive in a less-structured environment
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with team members and senior leaders
  • Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills
  • Design thinking mindset
